ANNOUNCEMENT: AIKONIA - THE GAME!
UPDATE: In case you hadn’t figured it out, this announcement was an April Fools’ joke. To those of you who thought this was real and were disappointed: We apologize. And to those of you who thought this was real and were actually excited: What? Really? Really. Ok.
Also: For those of you who asked, the cute graphics were illustrated by this awesome person!
Hello everyone!
We are finally proud to announce that the Aikonia game is approaching its final stages and we’ve reached a point where we can finally start sharing some more information and screenshots!
We started working on the Aikonia game two years ago now and I can definitely say we’ve been through a lot of ups and downs. Fortunately, almost a year ago, we were lucky enough to meet some people from a certain game development company that is known for their amazing Facebook games. We can’t really mention who they are yet, but we can say that we started a wonderful friendship, which eventually led to this awesome partnership. They helped us design and develop the game and it truly has become so much more than what we expected. The game has so many new things to offer and we’re so excited for you to finally get to try out the amazing features we’ve got planned!
Here is the first screenshot. Please keep in mind that the game is still in development and a lot of things are subject to change.

SPOILERS AHEAD!
As you can see, after the events of the comic, the entire realm of Aikonia was destroyed and it’s now up to YOU to rebuild the kingdom! Of course, you start out small, but with the help of magic, and your friends, you’ll be able to create a gigantic kingdom full of amazing structures and people! You will be able to conquer other realms, as well as your friends’ kingdoms, to enlarge your realm and become ruler of the multiverse!
END OF SPOILERS
We will be publishing the game on Facebook and we’ve put a ton of work into the interface and tutorials to make sure the game is extremely accessible. Even your youngest family members will be able to play and share things with you via their Facebook page!

And, of course, this would not be an Aikonia game without drama and suspense. We’ve packed the game with awesome quests and adventures for you to explore and accomplish! The game also features a very intricate character management and levelling system! Your kingdom’s people ask you to perform specific tasks and they learn to like or dislike you as their ruler depending on how you treat them. This is a very essential feature of the game.
The game’s levelling system is something you’ve never seen before! Unlike other games where you gain experience based on your actions, you will be levelling up based on time spent playing the game. The more active you are in your kingdom, the more experienced you become, and the more advanced your kingdom becomes. It truly is mind-blowing.

We really look forward to announcing the release date and sending out invitation to beta testers. You will be amazed by this game and, trust me, it really is worth the wait.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on the upcoming game in the comments below! What feature are you most excited about? What feature would you like us to include? Are you looking forward to seeing any specific characters in the game? Let us know! :D
Go take a look at the first two pages of Aikonia as illustrated by Ira Gladkova, our new illustrator!
Introducing Ira Gladkova
Hello everyone!
First off, I would like the thank everyone that sent in an application, all of you were magnificent and you made this decision really difficult for me! Unfortunately, I could only choose one person and, despite some really great submissions, I decided to go with Ira.

You can read a little bit more about Ira on Aikonia’s cast page, you can also check out their Tumblog if you want! We’re really excited to return to our regular schedule and we really hope you all enjoy Ira’s work as much as we do!
Look forward to Aikonia being back online very soon! :)
An update on Aikonia’s current situation
Hello everyone,
We’d like to take some time to discuss what is happening with Aikonia and why it is still on hiatus. When Katie started working with us, the plan was for the comic to be a short one. A quick adventure through Aikonia’s past to introduce people to the world and how magic works in that world. But as time went on, we noticed the comic was doing really well and we wanted it to be more than just a quick venture. We injected a lot more story and rewrote it so that it would last several chapters.
Because of this, Katie worked with us for a lot longer than she expected to be working and we really appreciate the amazing work she’s put into the project. One problem was that she set the bar so high that other illustrators we talk to end up being intimidated.
We worked hard with Jared for a little over a month, but despite the support we’ve given him, he told us that the project was too much for him to handle. This means we are currently still looking for a new illustrator. We’ve found a couple candidates, but they were all either too busy or unable to continue in Katie’s footsteps.
We’re still searching for a new illustrator and we decided that it would really help if we made this public announcement: If you’re an illustrator who just happens to be awesome, please don’t hesitate to email us at hello@aikoniacomic.com
We’d be more than willing to discuss the project with you to see if you’d be the right person for the job. You do not have to emulate Katie’s style, we understand that hiring a new illustrator means the style of the comic will change and we’re ok with that.
Thank you all for your support and happy new year!
UPDATE: The positioned has been filled! Thank you all for submitting, you can read about the new illustrator here!
End of Chapter 3 and Katie’s Departure
Hello everyone!
Yes, you read the title right: Aikonia’s third chapter is the last chapter that Katie will be illustrating. Katie’s work on Aikonia has been truly magnificent and the comic really wouldn’t have been the same without her amazing talent. She brought the comic to life in a way that was beyond our expectations and we are very grateful for the amazing work she has done. Unfortunately, she had to resign from illustrating Aikonia for personal reasons. So we wish her the best and we look forward to working with her again in the future!
This, of course, does not mean it is the end of Aikonia! In two weeks, we will return to continue our story with a new illustrator! As per usual, we will be taking the next week off to prepare for the fourth chapter and, in the meantime, we will be posting guest pages by other great artists and webcomic authors.
We hope that Katie’s departure does not upset you or change the opinion you have of Aikonia. We wouldn’t even be here today if it weren’t for your wonderful support and we don’t know what we would do without you all!
So again, thank you all for being so supportive these past two years and we hope you enjoy the fourth chapter of Aikonia, which will be starting on the 19th of November!
